Harrow: We'll save morris men

Dying art: Morris dancers

A LONDON town hall has responded to fears morris dancing may be dying out by launching a recruitment drive for young people.

From April Harrow will provide space at its facilities to allow its local "side", Merrydowners Morris, to show their skills. The council will also help market recruitment workshops. The troupe performs at local events including St George's Day, New Year's Day and culture festival Under One Sky.

Javed Khan, director of community and cultural services, said: "I enjoyed morris dancing at school so I know first hand it is a fantastic tradition."
