Happy faces ... the day before the Utoya massacre

12 April 2012

Relaxed and happy, young people enjoy the sunshine the day before Anders Breivik brought death to their camp on the island of Utoya, near Oslo.

The Labour Party Youth members are shown during a visit by Norway's foreign minister Jonas Gahr Stoere in pictures released today. Breivik, 32, stormed the island on Friday afternoon, killing 68 people.

Oslo was on high alert today as bomb squad officers evacuated the city's main railway station after a suspicious suitcase was found. Police also last night detonated explosives found at a farm leased by Breivik at Rena.

Meanwhile, the leader of Norway's Delta Force said the breakdown of their boat didn't cause any significant delay in getting to the island on Friday.
