Hamiltons set to quit luxury home

Neil and Christine Hamilton will finally quit their luxury home today, two years after being forced to sell up following their failed libel case against Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed.

Former Tory trade minister Mr Hamilton, 52, and his wife were left owing huge legal bills after an unsuccessful libel action against Mr Al Fayed in 1997 in which he claimed Mr Hamilton demanded cash for questions raised in Parliament.

The couple insisted Mr Al Fayed will receive nothing from the sale of the listed Georgian mansion in Nether Alderley, near Wilmslow. They will live in their Battersea flat.

'It will be good to be somewhere new and fresh,' said Mrs Hamilton, 50.
