Gun gang threaten girl

Robbers pointed a gun at a four-year-old girl in an armed raid on a shop, police revealed today.

Thames Valley Police are now offering a £5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the three-man gang.

The girl and her mother, shop staff and customers were threatened by the masked men armed with a handgun, a knife and a baseball bat in what police have described as "a terrifying ordeal".

The incident happened at a convenience store in Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire, yesterday.

Police said the three men, wearing balaclavas, entered the store through its main entrance.

One man carried a baseball bat, used it to hit a shop assistant over the head and then approached the Post Office counter at the back of the store where he attempted to break the reinforced window but failed.

The robber then threatened the assistant and forced staff to hand over what officers have said was "a substantial amount of cash".

A second man, armed with a knife, also demanded money and threatened staff behind the shop counter.

The third member of the gang was carrying a gun and also a baseball bat and was guarding the door of the shop which at the time contained eight customers.

He pointed his gun straight at the little girl and told her to look away.

The injured shop assistant managed to escape out of the shop via a back entrance where he discovered a fourth robber waiting by a car in a car park.

This man was also wearing a balaclava and carrying a baseball bat. The injured man then fled.

All four men made off with the cash in a carrier bag in a car which detectives think was dark green and possibly a Ford Focus or a new-style Fiesta.
