George Michael axes single in US

George Michael has refused to release Shoot The Dog, his anti-American new single, in the US.

He has been stung by bad publicity after it emerged that it ridicules the relationship of George Bush and Tony Blair and rages about the war on terror in Afghanistan.

The record will still be released elsewhere. A friend of Michael's said: "George realises how controversial the song is and how a lynch mob might be after him in the States."
