Gang raid Ramsay's home

A violent gang terrified the wife and four children of Gordon Ramsay during a 'nightmare' raid on their £3million home, the celebrity chef revealed yesterday.

Two men knocked at the front as a third man tried to smash down the back door.

'There is a playroom at the back of the house and it has a sliding glass door. They tried to push that through too,' said Ramsay, who was at work in his restaurant.

'This other guy at the front was trying to punch the window in and demanding a glass of water.'

As Ramsay's wife Tara told him to go away, she heard the back door being kicked in. 'She got really upset and could hear the guys screaming,' he added.

Terrified, she grabbed her phone and ran into the toilet to ring the police.

For a while, the house in Battersea, South-West London, went silent but the gang then started pushing the door again.

However, as officers with dogs arrived they ran off on to Wandsworth Common.

Ramsay, 36, said his wife was 'pretty shaken up' by the ordeal, on July 31.

'It was a nightmare for her, a very frightening experience,' he added.
