Gail's anorexia battle

Gail Porter: at her lowest point she weighed just 6-and-a-half stone

TV presenter Gail Porter must take medication for the rest of her life because of her battle with anorexia, she has revealed.

The 32-year-old, has a permanent thyroid problem after starving herself for 10 years.

"I've got all sorts of problems now," she says. I want to tell any girl out there who's thinking of not eating: 'Don't do it - it's not worth it.'"

Porter, who overcame the disease with the help of her husband, former Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave, says: "I didn't care about what I was doing to myself. I just wanted to get skinny.

"I'm the sort of person who thinks: 'That will never happen to me'."

She and Hipgrave have a oneyearold daughter, Honey. When the couple met, Hipgrave was shocked to discover her fridge contained only a bottle of vodka and some face cream.

The presenter, currently recovering from an injury incurred during the Channel 4 reality show, The Games, weighed just six-anda-half stone at her lowest point.

She tells Closer magazine: "You only get one life and I wasted so much time worrying about myself and being so selfish.

"I've just done some work for a breast cancer charity. Seeing women who've had their breasts removed made me realise how pathetic I was."
