Gail Porter sectioned after 'suicide attempt' in bathroom

Gail Porter: Sectioned after suicide attempt
12 April 2012

Television presenter Gail Porter was sectioned after apparently attempting to commit suicide, it emerged today.

The 40-year-old was reportedly taken to hospital on Wednesday after being found locked in her bathroom in Belsize Park with cuts to her arms and chest. She was detained under the Mental Health Act after friends called the police.

Porter has admitted self-harming to cope with stress and spoken of a pills overdose and her battle with drink, drugs and depression.

She was released from hospital yesterday and said: "I'm fine, thank you very much."

A friend told The Sun: "Gail has gone off the rails. She needs to be in rehab. Her depression is a product of the crap she has been through exacerbated by drink and drugs."
