Free opera tickets to attract new audiences

Lead role: Cheryl Barker
12 April 2012

An opera company is giving people a chance to "try before you buy" in a drive to develop new audiences.

Opera Holland Park will give away 100 tickets a night for the rarely heard 20th-century Italian tragedy Francesca da Rimini, by Riccardo Zandonai. Cheryl Barker will play the lead role.

"It is a perfect first-time opera," said the company's general manager Michael Volpe. People given a ticket will also get a donation form and be invited to give a minimum £30 to the Friends of Opera Holland Park.

To apply, phone the box office on 0845 230 9769 and choose one of the seven dates from July 30 to August 13, quoting "Opera Challenge".
