Football clubs' TV claim 'nonsense'

A £178.5 million claim against TV companies Carlton and Granada by the Football League after the collapse of ITV Digital was "a nonsense," the High Court heard today.

Lord Grabiner, QC, representing the broadcasters, told the court that the initial bid document referring to a guarantee of funding at the heart of FL's case was "subject to contract".

ITV Digital went into administration in March after admitting it could not afford to pay the FL's contract fees.

Carlton and Granada say no parent company guarantees were made.

The case continues.
