Five held in French terror raids

13 April 2012

Five people suspected of links with the Real IRA have been arrested in co-ordinated swoops by French police in Brittany and Normandy.

The five are all French nationals, it was confirmed today. They were seized in dawn raids which followed the discovery of weapons and ammunition near the French port of Dieppe.

Police said all five were from the Brittany area, but refused to confirm they were members of a well-known Breton nationalist organisation which supports terror groups, in particular Spain's ETA group.
