First Capital Connect rail strike is called off

12 April 2012

A planned strike by rail workers on First Capital Connect over the sacking of a colleague has been called off, it was announced today.

Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union were due to walk out for 24 hours on Monday, but general secretary Bob Crow said progress had been made during talks with the company.

A company spokesman said: "We have reached a mutually satisfactory agreement with the RMT union over the dismissal of a member of staff.

"Consequently the strike action called by the RMT for Monday will not take place. We will be operating a normal service on this day."
