Fire boss in 'fatcat' pay-off

A fire chief has been criticised for striking a secret deal to quit his £200,000 a year job with an estimated £700,000 pay-off.

London Fire Brigade Commissioner Ron Dobson, 52, took a lower pay deal but kept his £133,000 pension as well as receiving the lump sum.

Paul Embery, an official of the Fire Brigades Union, described the "fatcat" deal as "unsavoury".
