Final appeal by 'right to live' parents

The parents of a braindamaged Florida woman are pinning their last hopes on an appeal to America's highest court.

Mary and Bob Schindler last night lodged a final appeal with the US supreme court as hope faded for their daughter Terri Schiavo, 41.

Lower courts have turned down their bids to have their daughter's feeding tube reinserted. She is expected to die within a week.

They side with her husband Michael, who believes she is in a persistent vegetative state after her heart stopped in 1990 and would want her life to end.
