Ecstasy victim 'took five pills'

12 April 2012

Ten-year-old ecstasy victim Jade Slack may have taken up to five of the tablets in mistake for painkillers, it emerged today.

The tablets are available for between £3 and £7 each in the North West and are particularly strong.

It is thought Jade could have found the tablets when she went upstairs at a friend's house to lie down after feeling unwell.

Two women and a man - aged between 18 and 20 - who live at the house in Galgate, near Lancaster, have been released on bail pending further toxicology tests.

Det Supt Ian Jones said whether Jade took the pills by accident or was given them was a "crucial" part of the police investigation.
