Easter egg war breaks out in stores

SAINSBURY'S new chief Justin King has gone to war in the Easter eggs market, days after arriving at the company.

Nearly all the big retail chains started the run-up to Easter by offering three standard boxed chocolate eggs for £5. Then Asda broke ranks, cutting its price to £4.50. Now Sainsbury's has gone on the offensive with three eggs for £4.

Sainsbury's insists that the Easter deal has nothing to do with its new boss. 'It was planned long ago,' said a spokeswoman.
