Dyke shows yellow card to improve BBC

BBC director general Greg Dyke today launched an extraordinary new initiative to get good ideas on screen - football referee-style yellow cards which read: "Cut the crap and make it happen."

He wants his staff to brandish the cards whenever they feel good ideas are being stifled by others at team meetings.

In a speech to thousands of BBC employees today to mark his second anniversary as head of the corporation, he said his mission was to turn it into a "can do" organisation.
