Ducks’ deluxe living on Thames-side balcony

Live and let fly: the family of ducks enjoy a life of luxury next to MI6’s HQ and overlooking the London Eye
12 April 2012

One of the capital's most impressive balconies, with a bird's eye view of the Houses of Parliament, has been taken over by a family of ducks.

A mallard and her 11 ducklings take regular walks on the seventh-floor platform next to MI6's headquarters beside the Thames, while the proud father often pays a visit to survey his brood from the ledge.

The family can even be seen waddling up and down wooden stairs to the raised, fake grass garden near the London Eye.

The flat's owners say they are happy to share the space — and occasionally feed the ducks. If they change their mind, they could always move to Quackney.
