Drugs firms face price-fix cases

PRICE-fixing prosecutions against pharmaceuticals companies by the Serious Fraud Office and the Department of Health can go ahead.

The High Court today rejected a claim by one of the firms involved, Kent Pharmaceuticals, that the SFO had breached human rights under European law by handing over some of the 6,000 documents seized in a raid on its premises to the Department of Health.

The SFO alleges that, between 1996 and 2000, prices of generic drugs supplied to the NHS increased eightfold.
