Drugs crop found at primary school

POLICE have uncovered a large cannabis crop being grown inside a primary school.

The plants were being cultivated in the boiler room of Hitherfield Primary School in Streatham, underneath powerful hydroponic lights.

Police raided the school during half-term after electricity firm EDF told them about excessive power consumption.

Thirty-one cannabis plants were removed and caretaker Michael Griffin, 44, was charged with drug offences.
