Driver shot in parking space dispute

A motorist is in hospital today after being shot during a parking space row in Brixton.

The man, 26, had the bullet removed from under his armpit at a south London hospital.

The victim was driving his blue Ford Puma on a one-way system around St Matthew's Church in Brixton early yesterday when he became involved in the dispute with another motorist in a blue Chrysler Grand Voyager.

The victim, from Streatham, approached the Chrysler in Effra Road at the junction with St Matthew's Road. During the argument the driver of the Chrysler shot the man with a handgun, before making off.

Police stopped the Chrysler in nearby Acre Lane, arresting a 42-year-old man and a woman, 28. A male passenger is being sought.

Witnesses should call Brixton police on 020 7326 1212.
