Drink driver jailed for using fake name

12 April 2012

A serial drink driver who gave police his stepbrother's details then used his name in court has been jailed for 18 months for perverting the course of justice.

Dale Hogwood, 38, of Poplar, had five convictions for driving over the limit when he was stopped in the West End in January.

City of Westminster magistrates' court, handed Hogwood's innocent stepbrother, Andrew Page, a 12 month driving ban and a £350 fine.

The deception was exposed when Mr Page contacted police after the DVLA wrote to him asking him to send in his license.

Hogwood was jailed for 18 months at Southwark crown court. He was also in breach of a suspended sentence order, as well as three driving offences.
