Deputy head found with child porn on phone is struck off

12 April 2012

A deputy head who was convicted of possessing child pornography has been struck off the Social Care Register.

The decision means William Whillock, who also worked as a child protection officer, will never be able to practise as a social worker.

The 57-year-old was arrested after indecent images of a teenage pupil at the New School in Sevenoaks were found on his phone. At his trial, Maidstone crown court was told the pictures were discovered by a colleague at the special school for children who have suffered trauma or abuse.

The General Social Care Council, the standards board for social workers, yesterday decided Whillock, from Staplehurst, Kent, should be removed from the social care register. He did not attend the hearing.
