Danny Drinkwater, who left Leicester for Chelsea in the final minutes of the transfer window, is a very clever signing for the champions.

He ticks so many of the boxes for an Antonio Conte midfielder. He is energetic, disciplined, a good passer and clever with his positional play.

With Drinkwater, N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea now have top-class competition for places in central midfield.

The other advantage is that Drinkwater, knows the League — he was a champion with Leicester in 2016, after all — so he will not need any time to adapt.

Whether Drinkwater becomes a regular starter, time will tell, but Chelsea are in so many competitions that he is sure to get his chance.

Marco Silva is building an impressive reputation for himself in English football.

Few gave him a chance of keeping Hull in the Premier League last season, but he kept them in the race until the closing weeks, although they did eventually drop into the Championship.

He has made a solid start at Watford, who are unbeaten in their first three games. They played well to win their second game, at Bournemouth, and Silva will believe he can achieve a similar result this weekend.
