Crystal Palace to face Brighton in FA Cup third round

Crystal Palace will travel to rivals Brighton in FA Cup third round.

Roy Hodgson took his side south to The Amex just under a week ago, where the two rivals played out a tight 0-0 draw.

The two clubs have not met in the FA Cup since 1976, when they faced each other three times in one season and their rivalry was well and truly born.

The Eagles have never won the FA Cup, but twice reached the final.

Then managed by Alan Pardew, Palace were beaten by Manchester United in the 2016 Final, while their only other appearance in the FA Cup showpiece came against the same opponents in 1990.

Last season, the Eagles were beaten in the fourth round by Manchester City after scraping past Bolton in the previous round.

Palace's focus this term will again be on Premier League survival, but attention will briefly turn to the Cup early in the New Year.

Ties will be played across the weekend of January 6/7.
