Couple in court over fatal car-jacking

A man and a woman will appear in court today charged over a car-jacking which left a mother fighting for her life in hospital.

Caroline Johnson, 46, was found lying in the road after she was knocked over when her car was stolen as she scraped ice from the windscreen.

Mrs Johnson, who was preparing to take her son to school last December, was dragged up to 60ft underneath the Citroen Picasso.

Kevin Richardson, 33, of Chalvey Road East, in Slough, Berkshire, is charged with aggravated vehicle taking and grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the incident in Langley, Berkshire.

Karen Napper, 37, of Ledgers Road, Slough, is charged with aggravated vehicle taking, grievous bodily harm with intent and failing to surrender to police bail.

Both are due to appear before a jury at Reading Crown Court in Berkshire.
