Couple fit out their house entirely on eBay

12 April 2012

A couple saved £60,000 by renovating and furnishing their new home entirely online using their iPads and iPhones.

Peter To, 33, and his fiancée Ching used apps to find builders, materials and furnishings.

They also bought wooden flooring, lighting, lavatories and showers online to fit out a six-bedroom £650,000 house in Surrey Quays. Most of their furnishings came from auctions using an eBay app.

Among the best bargains was a leather sofa valued at £2,500 that cost them £450 and two designer bar stools worth £2,000 for £199. They paid £1,440 for radiators with a retail price of £4,000.

Mr To said they were both gadget geeks and even their two-year-old son Theo had his own iPad and iPhone.
