Couple bailed over 'concrete baby'

13 April 2012

A married couple arrested in connection with the murder of a baby entombed in a concrete block have been released on bail, police said.

Philip Chadwick, 42, and his wife Anne, 41, from Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, were arrested on Wednesday by detectives investigating the death of the girl, named Lara by police.

Her remains were found in a free-standing block of concrete in a garage near Workington, Cumbria, in September 2002.

Experts believe she was aged between four and six months and died some time between 1990 and 1992.

Mr and Mrs Chadwick were bailed last night to appear at a future date, a spokesman for Cumbria Police said.
