Convicted: Britain's youngest terrorist
A terrorist recruited when he was 15 became the youngest to be convicted in Britain today after a guide to making napalm and other explosives was found at his home.
Hammaad Munshi, 18, of Dewsbury, was found guilty of possessing documents for a purpose connected with terrorism. He was 16 and taking his GCSEs when he was arrested. He will be sentenced on 19 September.
For nearly a year the former comprehensive school pupil spent evenings distributing online material as part of what the Crown called "a cell of cyber groomers that set out to brainwash the vulnerable and kill non-believers".
Blackfriars crown court heard the material contained detailed instructions on making napalm, detonators and grenades, and "how to kill".
Munshi, the grandson of Sheikh Yakub Munshi, president of the Islamic Research Institute of Great Britain, ran the cell's website. He was recruited by Aabid Khan, 23, of Bradford, who helped radicalise jailed would-be suicide bomberMohammed Atif Siddique.
Khan ran "online extremist network" At-Tibiyan Publications. He and Munshi swapped documents on "black powder explosives".
Khan and his "right-hand man" Sultan Muhammad, 23, of Manningham, Bradford, were convicted of making and possessing documents for a purpose connected with terrorism. A fourth defendant, Ahmed Sulieman, 30, of south London, was cleared of three possession charges.
