Commuting 'can cause heart attacks'

Commuting is so stressful it can cause a heart attack or a stroke, according to research.

Scientists in the United States found the daily journeys to and from work caused dangerous levels of stress in more than half those examined. The study was carried out by Dr Karol Watson of the Centre for Cholesterol and Hypertension Management at the University of Los Angeles, who examined over 2,000 commuters.

The most dangerous journey to work is by car. Road rage, detours and running late raised blood pressure in nearly 75 per cent.
