Christmas comes even earlier at Selfridges

Selfridges will open its Christmas shop on August 2 — a full 145 days before December 25 and its earliest ever start.

Last year, the festive outlet sold more than 1,000 baubles in the first week of trading after opening on August 8.

Geraldine James, its buying manager, said: "I can see a time when we offer a Christmas collection throughout the year."
