Chlamydia is most common STD

12 April 2012

Chlamydia is now the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted infection, according to new figures.

Last year, clinics treated 71,055 new cases: 10 per cent more women and nine per cent more men than in 2000.

Thousands of women will be offered testing for the bacterial infection at 10 locations, including Camden, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Southend, following two successful pilot schemes.
