Chinese teacher punishes children with syringe

A nursery school teacher in China has admitted she pricked 63 children on the hands, feet and buttocks with an empty hypodermic syringe as a punishment.

None has tested positive for infectious diseases but their parents have demanded compensation of £175,000 - more than the amount a teacher makes in 50 years.

The teacher, called Sun Qiqi, was tried by a court in Yunnan province but no verdict was announced.
