Chelsea will hand Antonio Conte full £60m to reinvest in squad if Oscar moves to China
Chelsea will give coach Antonio Conte the £60m from Oscar's potential sale to Shanghai SIPG to invest in new players next month.
The Chinese Super League club have lodged a mammoth bid for the 25-year-old, although Standard Sport understands that the deal is still a long way from completion.
While Oscar is interested in making the switch to Shanghai SIPG, who are now coached by former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, a source close to the player says he has yet to speak to Conte about leaving Stamford Bridge and is likely to hold talks about it today.
The 25-year-old has started just six games this term, the last of which was against West Ham in October.
Conte insisted last month that Oscar was part of his long term plans after this paper had revealed he had become a target for Inter Milan.
The former Italy coach could still ask Chelsea to block the deal if he wants Oscar to stay and help in their title bid, although the size of Shanghai's offer makes that unlikely.
Conte wants to sign a top centre half in January and has a number of targets on his wish-list, including Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, that won't be cheap.
He is also considering making a move for a full back, while buying another midfielder was already a priority before Oscar's possible departure.
Oscar, who joined Chelsea from Internacional for £25m in 2012, didn't want to move to China earlier this year when Jiangsu Suning made a similar bid.
But it is understood the presence of Villas-Boas at Shanghai, plus the success of a number of Brazilians moving to China, including former Chelsea midfielder Ramires, has changed his mind.
Oscar will demand a massive pay-rise from Shanghai on his current £90,000-a-week salary and could receive in excess of £300,000-a-week.
