Chef Pierre Koffmann pops up again to take Gordon Ramsay’s place at Berkeley

Pierre Koffmann, the former three-Michelin starred chef who inspired a generation of British culinary names, is making a full-time return to the kitchen at the age of 61.

The Frenchman will open a restaurant called Koffmann's in June. It will be in the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge in a site occupied by Gordon Ramsay's Boxwood Café, which closes at the end of this month.

It was also where Koffmann operated his influential La Tante Claire from 1998 to 2003, when he went into semi-retirement.

The chef said he was inspired by his "pop-up" venture on the roof of Selfridges last year:
"I still have life in me so I thought why not do it?'"
