Cameron attracts another hand-gesturing youngster

At least she wasn't wearing a hoodie. Or aiming a pretend gun.

This Israeli girl made her point, if indeed there was one, in time-honoured childish fashion.

At least she wasn't wearing a hoodie. Or aiming a pretend gun.

This Israeli girl made her point, if indeed there was one, in time-honoured childish fashion.

Pulling a face and giving a firm thumbs down, she danced about in the background as David Cameron made his first trip to the Middle East.

Her playfulness was in stark contrast to the more menacing presence lurking behind the Tory leader as he toured a council estate in Manchester last week.

Labour spin doctors could not have engineered her sudden appearance better as Mr Cameron toured the streets of Old Jerusalem 2,000 miles from home.

He is on a two-day visit to Israel which is due to include talks with prime minister Ehud Olmert.

He visited a Friends of the Earth irrigation project in the West Bank town of Wadi Fukin before flying to Tel Aviv for a meeting with the Israeli premier.

Mr Cameron also met foreign minister Tzipi Livni, deputy prime minister Shimon Peres and the Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

He met Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on a trip to London last month and will see him again today after a trip to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial - a rite of passage for all foreign politicians who visit Israel.

A Tory aide said: "The trip is a learning trip.

"David is very much of the view that you can't speak with authority on things unless you have been out there and seen the situation for yourself."
