Call for clarity over royal travel costs

Evening Standard13 April 2012

An MP will today demand greater clarity about the royal family's travel expenses following a report into the Duke of York's spending. National Audit Office (NAO) figures which appeared in The Mail on Sunday reveal Prince Andrew spent £315,000 of public money in a year on hiring planes and helicopters. Ian Davidson, Labour MP for Glasgow Pollok, who requested the details from the NAO, described the costs as "extravagant".

The royal family hit back after the NAO figures were published, calling for the entire document to be made available.
