Some have been accused of being little more than autocue readers.

But last night a group of Britain's most famous TV news presenters got together to prove they have other abilities.

At Newsrooms Got Talent, a charity event at London wine museum Vinopolis, they swapped smart TV outfits for fancy dress and took to the stage to display their musical skills.

Among those taking part were Channel 4's Jon Snow and Krishnan Guru Murthy as Manfred Mann, Katie Derham and Mary Nightingale of ITV singing Grease, and BBC newsreaders including Fiona Bruce, above, who sang So Long, Farewell, from the Sound of Music.
