Bread costs baker more dough

THE summer drought and a disastrous European wheat harvest is leading to higher prices for bread.

Bakery and foods group Greggs has lifted retail prices for some products by 5% in response to the rising price of flour. However, it revealed its 1200-strong chain is recovering from slack sales caused by August's heatwave, with sales up 2% in the past 10 weeks. The shares rose 60p to 3105p.
