Tickets for a Blur comeback concert in London sold out online in two minutes today.

Demand was so great for the gig at Hyde Park on 3 July that a second date has been announced for the day before.

But fans should be quick if they want to go as tickets for 2 July are selling fast too.

Steve Guest, of organisers Live Nation, said: "We are very happy: 45,000 tickets sold in just two minutes. Everyone and their dog wants to see Blur." Kaiser Chiefs have already asked to be the support act. Their drummer Nick Hodgson said it was the "first thing" he thought of when news of the comeback broke this week.

Blur have not played together as a four-piece for six years. They are also rumoured to be headlining at Glastonbury next June.

The Britpop group had huge commercial success with the album Parklife in 1994.

But in 2002, tension within the band boiled over and guitarist Graham Coxon, 39, quit during the recording of their seventh album, Think Tank.Since then frontman Damon Albarn, 40, has enjoyed commercial and critical success with his virtual band, Gorillaz, and The Good, The Bad And The Queen, collaborated with musicians from Africa and worked on an opera.

Coxon has released several solo albums while bassist Alex James, 40, owns a farm and writes newspaper columns.

Drummer Dave Rowntree, 44, is a trainee barrister and Labour candidate for the constituency of Cities of London and Westminster.

Speaking of their reunion, James said: "It will be good. What's not to like?"
