Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton today completed a high-wire walk between the chimneys of Battersea Power Station in aid of Comic Relief.

Skelton, circled, wearing a safety harness, completed the 150-metre distance at 66 metres (216 feet) above the ground as more than 100 children looked on.

The 27-year-old crossed the 18mm thick wire at the first attempt in about 14 minutes after months of training. She is hoping to have raised thousands for the charity.

"I knew it would be scary and a challenge to stay focused but I really hadn't realised how physical it would be," she said.

Her wire-walking will be shown on future episodes of Blue Peter.
