Bank star Roselly goes global

12 April 2012

IT WAS another good day for women in the City as investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein promoted Roselly Ramseyer-Torres to deputy head of global equities.

The high-powered, married banker, who was born in Puerto Rico and graduated from Assumption College, Boston, will also take charge of the group's equity research, sales, trading and derivatives operations. She previously worked for Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust.

This followed the overnight return of Patricia Russo to US group Lucent as chief executive. Lucent, the world's largest telecoms equipment supplier, poached Russo back from Kodak, where she was chief operations officer. With Hewlett Packard chief Carly Fiorina, she is one of the few women to head a top US corporation.

It was also women's day at Chesterton International, the property group where Lorraine Baldry took over as chief executive. Baldry is a director of printer St Ives.
