Baby P pair face assault charges

Two brothers jailed following the 2007 death of Baby Peter could face charges over an alleged assault on their grandmother in late 1995.

Steven Barker and Jason Owen were accused of locking Hilda Barker, 82, in a wardrobe in Whitstable to force her to change her will.

She died of pneumonia in 1996. The case was dropped due to lack of evidence, but a cold case review has now been referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.
