BA chief warns over turbulence

BRITISH Airways chief Rod Eddington has warned that the transatlantic market is still weak and that it will rely on cost-cutting to reduce losses.

He was speaking at the Shanghai airline summit, at which the International Air Transport Association disclosed losses among world airlines will reach £4.1bn in 2002, following 11 September.

Eddington said: 'We have seen a market share gain for BA, but the whole market is still weak.' He added the biggest threat to recovery was further terrorist attacks.
