AXA to cut 700 insurance jobs

Insurance giant AXA is to cut 700 jobs as part of a restructuring of its general insurance operation in Britain, it announced today.

The majority of the jobs will go at a call centre in Colchester, a claims unit in Cardiff and an office in Bolton.

French-owned AXA said cuts at the division, which covers car, household and commercial insurance, follow a strategic review which will see £100million invested in IT.
