Antiques dealer ran bedroom brothel
An antiques dealer made up to £660,000 by using his suburban home as a brothel, a court has heard.
After Charles Clegg left for work each day, call girls moved into his £250,000 house - including his bedroom - for sex romps. The 52-year-old had more than 300 prostitutes in his contacts book.
His estranged wife Jadwiga, 49, their son James, 22, and James's girlfriend Nichola Gooding, 29, helped organise them and worked as room maids.
Aprinted list offered a selection of sexual services. Options on 'Cathy's menu' included 'sex and oral' for £50, 'sex and reverse oral' for £70 and 'A-levels' for £80, Southwark Crown Court heard. Exotic preferences included lesbian sessions and girls in uniform.
Oliver Glasgow, prosecuting, said one prostitute, known as Candy, made £950 from 14 clients in just one day.
Bed sheets were washed at a nearby launderette and police saw Clegg's mistress taking dirty washing from the house.
It was targeted by officers after neighbours in Finchley, North London, complained about clients calling at their homes by mistake. Clegg, serving nine months for living off prostitution, rejected prosecution estimates of his earnings.
He claimed the brothel took about £60,000 and his profit, after expenses, was just £11,000. But Judge Geoffrey Rivlin said much of his evidence was 'simply incredible'.
He ordered Clegg, now of Southampton, to repay £110,000 from the illegal business in six months or face a further 18 months in jail.
