Anthrax 'could kill 660,000 in London'

The Government is today considering whether to change its response in the event of an anthrax attack on greater London after a US study predicted that between 60,000 and 660,000 people could be killed.


A computer model published today forecast that some 1.5 million people would be infected if anthrax were released into the air downwind of a city of 10.8 million people.

The Department of Health said: "The UK government will seek expert advice on this report to see if we need to change anything in responding to an attack."
