Another top Met police officer to leave

One of Scotland Yard's most senior women officers is set to leave the force, creating a new management crisis at the top.

Lynne Owens, 42, the force's second most senior woman officer and one of the Yard's high fliers, is favourite to win the post of chief constable of Surrey.

Her departure in the new year will mean she becomes the sixth member of the force's management team to step down in the last 18 months. They include two senior figures, deputy commissioner Tim Godwin and assistant commissioner Ian McPherson.
