Almodovar brings new film into open at Somerset House

Spanish director Pedro Almodovar is to hold the UK premiere of his new film in the open air at Somerset House.

The Oscar and Bafta winner will start this year's Film4 Summer Screen season with a screening of Broken Embraces, nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes, starring Penelope Cruz.

Almodovar will attend the red carpet premiere on 30 July, which will be open to the public.

The screening is a coup for Somerset House, which is teaming up with Bafta to hold workshops by leading figures in the film industry.

The Behind the Screen programme will run indoors before each screening.The season runs until 8 August.
