Ali Dizaei could lose job in weeks

Dizaei could be sacked 'within a few weeks'
12 April 2012

Disgraced police chief Ali Dizaei will face a fast-track disciplinary process which could mean he is sacked from the Met within weeks.

The Metropolitan Police Authority has ordered that the disciplinary action against Dizaei is treated as a "special case" - the first time it has ordered such a move.

The decision means the M Olympics minister PA will serve a formal notice on the police commander and a hearing will then take place not less than 21 days and not more than 28 days from the date of the letter. Police insiders say the process could be started in the next few days and Dizaei could be sacked "within a few weeks".

Dizaei, 47, who is appealing, was jailed for four years last week on two charges of misconduct and perverting the course of justice after a jury heard he tried to frame an innocent man.
